Though death befalls all men alike, it may be weightier than Mount Tai or lighter than a feather书上写着这许多字,佃户说了这许多话,却都笑吟吟的睁着怪眼看我。我也是人,他们想要吃我!

some of you know that i've been following the zoologist/philosopher Richard Dawkin's new series on BBC, its all here on the internet:

the new one, "enemies of reason" show the best and worst of this guy, littered with lyrical anecdotes, and extremely hilarious bits, its one to savor, in it he also takes on "post-modernism". Sometimes he attacks some what of strawmen, but it nonetheless unabashedly displays his position and the reasons why he holds them. probably the most entertaining documentary on science you will ever see.

If that series is called "The Root of All Evil" I watched it, too (looks like your link is broken, though). The only part that didn't make me cringe (in sympathy for both atheists and a-atheists) was the scene where he finds that school with the bible based curriculum. That was hilarious.

If you aren't sated by the respected zoologist who dabbles in religion, check out the respected computer scientist who dabbles in philosophy. Paul graham wrote the LISP textbook I used at the uni. In particular, his article "How to Do Philosophy", in which he does away with the history of philosophy with a wave of his hand, is pretty outrageous. It pissed me off, anyway. It reminded me of Dawkins, in a way. If it's not useful, get rid of it! There's a bit of the showing of his hand that you seem to have enjoyed in the Dawkins series (though you don't get to watch him grit his teeth and face off with an evangelical pastor-- a computer scientist would never get caught doing something quite so visceral). If you're interested in discrete math and philosophy, look no further!
